Hi,
You might have read about the Ashok Leyland or you might have seen the vehicles on the Indian Roads which the tag of Ashok Leyland on them. Many of the Army trucks can be seen with that company name on them. Ashok Leyland is a huge company in itself.
Ashok Leyland is a company owned by Hinduja Group, it is just the tip of the iceberg, this group is very vast and owns companies in different economic sectors, like, Banking, Medical, textile,Petroleum, Cinema, Iron ores, crude oil and many other. The Chairman of this group Mr. SriChand Parmanand Hinduja known as S P Hinduja was born on 28 November 1935 to Mr. Parmananda Deepchand Hinduja(founder of the hinduja Group) and Jamuna Hinduja in Shikarpur, present day Pakistan.
He has three brothers GopiChand, Prakash and Ashok who are working together with different companies based at different places of the world.
According to some internet articles he is ranked as the 3rd in the Forbes list 2013 of richest persons in the UK. He is continuously ranked among the wealthiest and richest people from Asia ans Europe since 1990.
His father Shri Parmananda Deepchand Hindujawho has learned that business is all about finding opportunities and using them, belonged to a Sindhi family which are known to be secretive by nature. There are no much records about the business of this group because it is said that they prefer secrecy. I just spotted one book titled as The New Maharajahs: The Commercial Princes of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh by von Claudia Cragg.
There are some details given about their business start up by their father in this book but it is more mysterious now than ever. I think they know how to see the opportunities and seize them.
There was an article written on the economictimes.com in which he is interviewed with a numbers of questions regarding his business, family and leadership values. You can check out the article here:
http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2011-02-18/news/28615537_1_hinduja-group-sp-hinduja-hinduja-house
Even after reading this article you will still wonder what is so much mysterious about this man and this whole group. I think they are just opportunists who know how to turn it for their own good.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
yours,
S Kumar
